Jesus said, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them,

for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these."

                                                                     - Matthew 19:14

Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.

                                                                          - Proverbs 22:6

Our Mission and Goal

Our Mission is to bring all people to a saving knowledge of God and His Church. Our goal is to provide a stimulating and nurturing environment where all people, and especially our children, can learn about God and the Holy Tradition of the Orthodox Christian Faith.

Why is Sunday School Important?

Sunday school is a place where our children can learn, grow and develop their relationship with God. It instills in them the teachings of the faith so that they may know, grow and go forth in their life with the Church as a guide and support.  The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America Department of Religious Education has developed the Sunday school curriculum. The lessons are geared toward laying a foundational understanding of who God is within the distinctive understanding and experience of the Orthodox Christian Church’s Holy Tradition, especially its liturgical services and sacramental life.

The Sunday Catechetical School is held for children from pre-kindergarten, 3 years old, to 12th grade. Once enrolled, students are requested to attend every Sunday and participate in the Divine Liturgy. Classes are held immediately following Holy Communion, and run approximately 45 minutes.  Our Sunday Catechetical School is in session from September through May, and recesses during the summer months.

A Prayer of Parents For Children

O God our heavenly Father, Who loves us and is most merciful and compassionate to us, I ask You to have mercy on Your children for whom I humbly pray. I commend them to Your gracious care and Your protection. Be both their guide and their guardian at all times. Lead them by Your light on the path of truth. Draw them ever closer to You, that they may lead a godly and righteous life, always walking in Your love and doing Your will in all things. Give them grace that they may be temperate, industrious, diligent, devout and charitable. Defend them against the assaults of the enemy, and grant them wisdom, courage and strength to resist all temptation and corruption in this life. Direct them in the way of salvation, through the intercessions of Your Son and our Savior Jesus Christ, by the power of the Holy Spirit, and the through the prayers of the Theotokos and all the saints. Amen.
