HOLY HUMOROUS

HISTORY & HAGIOGRAPHY!

4H” WEDNESDAY NIGHTS (6-8 PM)

@ SAINT KATHERINE, MELBOURNE, FL

This Fall, beginning on Wednesday, September 5th, we will be offering a faith study at our church.  Though we will be using the Bible as well, this is not just a Bible Study.  The focus will be on learning about Christian History and the lives of prominent Orthodox Christian saints.  Unlike Protestantism, the Orthodox faith has a very rich and diverse Tradition of Faith of which the Bible is the heart and center but not the whole.  Sola Scriptura (only the Bible) is not the Orthodox Tradition -- Theology, Church History, Liturgics, Canon Law, Ethics, Patristics, Byzantine Art, Iconography, Architecture & Music (just to name a few) -- and of course Old and New Testament -- are what altogether make up our Holy Orthodox Christian Faith Tradition.

We will be using two different DVD curricula –Drive Thru History (produced by Coldwater Media, Focus on the Family and Tyndale Entertainment – Protestant produced materials friendly to the Orthodox Tradition) and The Saints (produced by Bob Krantz AKA Haralambos Karountzos & Ellinas Multimedia).  Each week we will view a 30 minute “episode” from each curriculum and follow it up with a half hour discussion.  Our study will begin at 6 PM and end at 8 PM.

This curriculum is entertaining, enlightening and appropriate for all ages. If you are interested in attending, call friends and family members first, then call the Church Office to let us know how many people to plan for. Depending on your response, the study will be offered in either our new library, the new double classroom or in our trusty and dependable Community Center.
