Recognizing the need for Orthodox literature and lack of availability in the Melbourne area, Father George Zervos proposed Saint Katherine Bookstore in 1991.  Father Zervos wanted parishioners to have access to Orthodox icons, publications, incense, charcoal, etc.  

Father Zervos appointed Kathy Kovacs as the first curator of Saint Katherine Bookstore.  She was later replaced by Venus Peters assisted by Angie Varounis.  With the help of Philoptochos, which sponsored the first $500, the Bookstore became a reality.  The Saint Katherine Bookstore became self-sufficient and independently funded thereafter.  With proceeds generated from our annual festival, the Bookstore was able to donate books for the children and the books for the pews.  Mrs. Georgia Menegas has been the curator since 2007.

   Our Mission

To provide access to a wonderful selection of books and Orthodox materials for our members and visitors, that may enrich our spiritual lives and truly understand Orthodoxy.

    What We Offer

We offer an wide assortment of new and best-selling Orthodox books, icons in sterling silver or mounted on wood imported from Greece, gifts, greeting cards, children's books, prayer and service books, music CD's, incense/charcoal and censers, prayer ropes, and a variety of gift items for people of all ages.

     Hours of Operation

The Bookstore is located at the Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church Community Center and is open every Sunday after the Divine Liturgy.
